1. So i am determined to clean my room, i started yesterday, and it's not just the "oh i'll just shove everything under my bed" kind of cleaning, i really mean it, like "i will inspect every single item in my room and make sure it's placed where it's meant to be placed" kind of cleaning.
Yesterday, i swept every single piece of clothing out of my closet, my room was FILLED with clothes in different piles, and i folded most of them. I found a lot of lost clothes and ugly clothes from like gr.1. hahaha. Btw. i'm wearing a shirt i wore when i was 8, i can't believe i still fit in it.
Then i took out all my handbags, shoe boxes (i put letters and cards in my shoe boxes), and BAGS and BAGS of BAGS. I'm like my mom, i keep every single shopping bag and now the bags i have is almost more than my clothes. darn it, i need to throw them out. But what if i need it? OH NO! dilemma oh dilemma.
...and then there are these random things i don't know where to put, like a tacky clip that is supposedly too "nice" to throw out, but nonetheless will not ever be adorned on my big head.
My room is SO messy right now i dont want to clean it anymore, but it's going to take days probably, i'll make it my project.
project clean gendi room
I hope i will finish by the weekend, and hm. i should really take a before/after photo.
The slowness of the cleaning reminds me of my life... there's a lot of JUNK in my life, but with the pace i'm going, i'm really not going anywhere. Wow, so philosophical. I rock.
2. Today i went to a press conference for "ALPHA" (Association for Learning & Preserving the History of WWII in Asia). It was basically promoting a China trip that a bunch of Canadian and American teachers are going to. They will have the opportunity to personally visit Nanking and meet the survivors of the so called "the forgotten Holocaust of WWII".
What happened was the japanese invaded Nanking, a city in China in december 1937 and killed approx 300,000 innocent Chinese people in a matter of weeks. After what happened, the japanese denied it, did not appologize, and furthermore refused to include this very important part of History in their textbooks. To this day, the reality of this massacre is still being debated and questioned. This organization was founded with the goal to reestablish and include this fact into the textbooks and curriculum in the schools of North America and make sure it's being taught to future generations. One thing that struck me was what the guy said, he said, along the lines of these words "we're not here to promote hate towards the japanese, but rather to raise awareness to what really happened in the past so it won't happen again"
I really think it's important, because with a massacre of such a big scale, you really can't brush it off and pretend it never happened. Moreover i think there should be reconciliation between the japanese and the Chinese. I'm glad i went.
a funny sidestory: i recently bought a pair of 3+" heels, my parents wanted me to dress up a little for this event, so i wore the darn heels, it hurt a LOT. so after the conference i sat down on a chair, bent down, and took off the shoes and put on flip flops. When i got up, i realized that the camera man was interviewing the president of the organization, and for the whole time while i was taking off the shoes and stuff, i was in the background. HAHAHA i was like "SHOOOOOT". look out for me on tv. i might be on tv. hahaha.
3. I really like using thesaurus.com for synonyms because my vocabulary is very limited. So once, i was typing up a pneumatos email, and i was going to write "dear my pneumatos friends", but i thought it sounded unoriginal, so i wrote "to my pneumatos fiends" because it sounded right. Then i proceeded to write this big long email about the programmes and stuff.
I was about to click "send" when i thought, "hm, maybe i should look up the word fiend before i send out the email"
so i looked it up.
